About Getford

Getford offers the world’s most environmentally friendly toilet cistern, designed to use condensate water from air conditioning units for flushing. Previously, this free and sustainable water source was simply drained away — now, Getford turns it into a powerful way to conserve water and reduce waste.

Reusing waste water

Air conditioning units generate large volumes of water, which typically flow straight into the waste pipe. Getford offers an innovative solution that redirects this water through the toilet cistern, allowing it to be reused for flushing toilets.

Dual chamber design

The system features a dual-chamber design. When the toilet is flushed, the patented lower chamber empties and is immediately refilled with water from the upper chamber. This allows for multiple flushes in quick succession using water collected from the air conditioning unit. The flush volume can also be adjusted between 3 and 6 litres to comply with local regulations.

Economically Friendly

How Does it work?

The cistern will install operates just like a traditional cistern, but with one key difference — it includes an additional inlet that allows it to draw water from a secondary source, such as air conditioning condensate. Holding 18 litres — three times more than a standard cistern — its patented dual-chamber design ensures it still fits within the same space as conventional models.

The lower chamber can be adjusted in half-litre increments to hold between 3 and 6 litres, accommodating various international standards. During a flush, this lower chamber empties, triggering a communication valve that releases condensate from the upper 12-litre chamber into the lower one, ready for the next use. Meanwhile, the upper chamber continues to collect condensation, maintaining a steady, sustainable supply of water.

In hot climates, where large volumes of condensate are produced, the system can operate almost entirely without using mains water. However, if an unusually high number of flushes occur in quick succession, or if the air conditioning is inactive, the system automatically switches to mains water as a backup source.
